The Top 9 Animated Movies Part 2

Welcome back to another top 10 on The Matt Show.

1:Lilo & Stitch - This movie was my CHILDHOOD! I remember when I was younger, I was a huge Lilo & Stitch fan. I loved the movie, the show, and even the obscure video game based off the movie. I could name all of the alien experiments and still probably can. Lilo & Stitch was AWESOME! I used to collect Stitch stuff all the time, every time I would see something with Stitch's face on it, I would make sure to get it. I watched Lilo & Stitch for the first time in a long time last year and you know what it is still a great movie with great characters, great songs, and an amazing take on Hawaiian culture. This is the movie that made me an Elvis fan. It is a childhood gem that I will never forget.

2:Mulan - Mulan is one of those movies that is really funny and entertaining with a pinch of seriousness. The little dragon Mushu cracked me up as a kid and the plot of the movie is interesting as well. I remember thinking that Mulan's dog Little Brother is REALLY cute. I didn't know for the longest time that June Foray who voiced Granny and Witch Hazel on classic Looney Tunes shorts voiced Grandma Fa. I looked it up because I saw her name credited on the 2014 Looney Tunes Show, I was like "That can't be right!" and apparently she is still alive and still voicing cartoons. That is some serious talent if you ask me.

3:Rio 2 - I put the original Rio movie on my first list of the best animated movies. I was a little bit leery about the sequel at first, I thought it was kind of weird that Blu and Jewel were living in the Amazon where in the first movie Blu was a city bird who lived at home with a lady named Linda Gunderson. But then when I watched the movie KAPOW! my mind was blown. The plot was REALLY good, the music was great (especially that cute little song the capybara sings), the animation was top notch, and the baby birds Carla and Bia were freaking adorable. It had a lot of funny moments like when the sloth out of nowhere started rapping. It felt like a Family Guy cutaway and me and mom both laughed REALLY hard. But my favorite new character in the movie was Gabi, the little tree frog. She stole the show! All of the funniest moments were about her love for Nigel, the villainous cockatoo and they were all hilarious. Blu has since become one of my favorite cartoon birds.

4:Stewie Griffin-The Untold Story:I have been a Family Guy fan since I was 14-years-old and watched the episode "Brian in Love" in which Brian the dog fell in love with the mom, Lois. The plot was so funny and I liked the signature "cutaway jokes". Then one day I was at the book store and found a DVD that said "An hour and a half of pee in your pants funny starring the Griffin family", I thought "That's Family Guy all right!" and bought the DVD. The next day, I sat down and watched it, and it was SUPER hilarious. It was like the show in the form of an hour and a half long special. It had fart jokes, cutaways, pop culture references, and everything else Family Guy fans love. It was also weird to see Stewie try to be nice for a change, but that just made it even more hilarious. It had cameos of everyone from Kool-Aid Man to Randy Newman. I thought this was even better than The Simpsons movie. We take you now to our Asian news reporter, Tricia Takinawa. Just kidding!

5:Hercules:When I was younger, I liked mythical creatures so one day I saw this movie playing on the Disney Channel. The movie is REALLY good for people interested in classic mythology it had every creature imaginable from the hydra to the cyclops and it was a funny movie with good music as well. Disney outdid themselves once again!

6:Minions:Me, mom, dad, Aunt Shelley, and Uncle Brian went to the drive-in to see a little movie called Minions. Even though my aunt and uncle thought it was stupid, me, mom, and dad thought it was SO funny! For those who don't know, Minions are cute little yellow creatures that look almost like mutated Twinkies, they come from the Despicable Me franchise and are now the mascot of Illumination Entertainment. The movie had some REALLY good moments and while I'm not going to spoil it, there was a Beatles reference.

7:The Spongebob Movie 2:Spongebob is one of those things that never gets old. I watched it ever since I was 5 and then I took a break for a while as I felt I was too old for the show. Then one day, I saw a trailer for a new Spongebob movie and thought it looked really good. Me and my dad went to see it and we LOVED it! It had all kinds of references for old Spongebob fans from Patrick yelling "FINLAND!" to an appearance by Bubble Bass himself, it was a great movie.

8:Flushed Away - Flushed Away is a movie about a mouse getting flushed down a toilet and visiting a city of rats and frogs. The movie is an Aardman classic and if you like Wallace & Gromit like I do, I'm sure this movie will crack you up. It does have a lot of toilet humor but it's not ALL toilet humor, it has more adult humor than your average kid's movie, let me put it that away.

9:The Lorax - I've been a Dr. Seuss fan for years and loved Horton Hears a Who, when I found out they were making a Lorax movie I got really excited as the Lorax was one of my favorite Dr. Seuss books as a kid. The movie was a cute, nice, funny family movie. It had some really good parts and we all enjoyed it. Whether you like Dr. Seuss or you don't, I'm sure this you will like this movie.

Since I can't think of a 9th entry I'm stopping the list here. Have a great day and thanks for reading!

-Matt
