Video Game Review:Fate
I'm kind of bored and what is there to do to pass the time besides make a review one of your favorite video games, right!? So today I am going to review the first game in WildTangent's Fate series. For those who don't know, the game is where you make a character and a pet. For the pet you choose between two animals: dog and cat. Then you have to go on quests and fight all kinds of monsters until you get to the final boss. The game came out in 2005 and was supposed to be a kid-friendly version of the M-rated Diablo games. I first played the game when I was 7 and have loved it ever since. First, I'm going to review the gameplay. The gameplay is fairly easy and can played by both casual and hardcore gamers. It mostly involves battling monsters as you spend most of your time in the dungeon. Next I'm going to review the bestiary. The bestiary is what gamers call the monsters you fight in the game. This game has the most massive bestiary in any single player RPG I've ever played. It has every mythical creature from dragons to gryphons to goblins to giant blobs. Finally, I'm going to review the story. Fate has barely any story and if you are looking for a game with a story that has twists and turns, I suggest you look elsewhere. The game is mostly about questing by either fighting something or finding something. Another good thing about Fate is how incredibly moddable it is. For those who are unaware, mods are things that add new stuff to video games whether it be monsters, weapons, characters, or dungeons. Over 100 mods exist for just this one game and there are plenty of good ones. I have a bunch of mods in my game right now and I've made it feel like a whole new game. The one problem with Fate is that it lacks multiplayer ability and is only single player. So if you are a fan of MMOs (what geeks call multiplayer games), I recommend you don't play this one. The game is also fairly cheap compared to other games like EverQuest, World of Warcraft, and the average Wii U game. I got the first game for $20 and all of the mods are completely free. I do have a warning, though, if you want to add mods, be sure you know what your doing because if your not careful you could crash your game, believe me I've been there. All in all, Fate is a fun experience for any gamer looking for a good game that is somewhat cheap. Whether you've ever played an RPG before or not, I'm sure you will really love this game.
